Hollywood actress Maggie Gyllenhaal has taken over supermodel Kate Moss as the smouldering new face – and knockout body – of lingerie line Agent Provocateur.

Gyllenhaal stripped down for a series of sexually charged images, which see the scantily clad star splashing about in a bath and even posing in handcuffs.

The indie actress certainly had good training – she first came to attention with her daring role in 2002’s Secretary, where she played a personal assistant who enjoyed being spanked by her boss.

She has gone on to appear in World Trade Center, Sherrybaby and Donnie Darko, which co-starred her actor brother Jake Gyllenhaal.

Serena Rees, co-founder of Agent Provocateur, said: “Maggie is not an obvious sex symbol.”

“She is interesting looking, confident and beautiful in a way that is non-threatening, which makes her appealing to men and women alike.”

In all agreement with Serena Rees, co-founder of Agent Provocateur, Maggie Gyllenhaal is at her best, interesting looking. Unfortunately, for a lingerie brand famous for its provocative and titillating ad campaigns all these years, Agent Provocateur’s choice of using Maggie Gyllenhaal is a gross mistake.

Maggie Gyllenhaal is a talented and confident actress, but she is by no means sexually appealing. Yes, she appeared in Secretary, one of the most raved about films on BDSM but I wouldn’t call her role in the movie as anything more than “nerdy”.

You may wonder why I have such strong reservations towards Maggie Gyllenhaal as the new face of Agent Provocateur.

First of all, Maggie Gyllenhaal has an unnaturally droopy face. The smile line of the left side of her cheeks is especially prominent, caused by her left cheek muscle that seemed to have fallen down. Does Maggie Gyllenhaal have a history of Ball’s Palsy? I have tried seeking information on it but to no avail. As for the picture of her lying down, her cheeks seem to have been magically restored to a normal position thanks to gravitational pull.

The picture of her in the bathtub is by far the most decent, but she half her face was obscured, probably taking a note from experts of Internet Disease Angle.

So, was ditching Kate Moss for Maggie Gyllenhaal a good move by Agent Provocateur? I hardly think so.
