Beautiful Cheryl Cole of Girls Aloud fame cried while judging an episode of Britain’s talent show, X Factor. So moved by the plight of 18-year-old Amy Connelly, who hopes to impress her dad with her performance, softie Cheryl Cole burst into tears and proceeded to give Connelly a hug after her performance ended.

‘I had a tough time through the years, my mum died when I was seven, so he’s always been there for me and he’s been like my Mum and my Dad, we have bought each other up and we’ve got a really close relationship.’

After Amy’s performance Girls Aloud singer Cheryl gives her a big hug. ‘It sounds like you have been through a lot, but I totally believed your performance, I thought you were amazing, I believed every word and I loved it,’ she tells her.

And even the hard to please Simon is impressed: ‘You surprised me I didn’t think you’d be as good as that,’ he tells her.

Meanwhile, fellow judges Simon Cowell and Louise Walsh were stoic and unaffected. It’s probably the millionth time some contestant had pulled the sympathy card on them.
